A 'New' Da Vinci?

Did Leonardo da Vinci draw this Young Girl in Profile in Renaissance Dress, originally catalogued as "German, early 19th Century" and sold for £12,039 (about $19,000) or is it another example of wishful thinking? The answer could rest on a fingerprint. Connoisseur Peter Silverman, the current owner, brought in the experts to assess the work and has caused a major stir in the art world. It is amazing how science can contribute to the authenticity of this painting. Comparing this to the other paintings of Da Vinci, there are indeed some similarities. I pity the person who sold it. But maybe the Swiss collector can give him a a gift or something.

Hi.

Indeed, the original sellers must be kicking themselves. It looks much more like Early Renaissance than 19th Century German to me, but carbon dating and other scientific goodies need to be applied when the provenance is non-existent, as in this case.
