Suspects

Metropolitan Police officers have released photos of 18 suspects they would like to question about hooliganism during the otherwise peaceful protest march in central London on 26 March (title link). What struck me about the first group of 9 photos was the obviously wrong colour of the image in the middle of the top row: too heavy on red and blue. Using XnView, I raised the level of green; then, as the image still looked bland, I tweaked the contrast and gamma settings slightly. As you can see from the image below, changing the colour reveals a mop of sandy hair and a suggestion of freckles. Whether this attractive young face is male or female is still open to question. The mouth is strong, suggesting a youth, but the hint of a bright yellow headscarf suggests a girl. I haven't changed the features in any way. With all its hi-tech equipment and expertise, why couldn't the Met have improved this photo? It took only a few minutes.
