The Kiss for Margate

Here's another splendid irony I've had to sit on for two days. The recently opened Turner Contemporary in Margate will be spearheading its thrust into contemporary art with Auguste Rodin's masterpiece The Kiss (1901-04)! On loan from the Tate collection, it will be shown in the Sunley Gallery from 4 October to 2 September 2012 (title link). Why The Kiss? Simple: it was voted the nation’s favourite work of art in a 2003 poll. So, give the punters what they want and to hell with all that contemporary tripe which the Brit. Anti-art Establishment wants to foist on Margate. Nice one.
