Kew Extravaganza

Yesterday the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew in London opened its Tropical Extravaganza in the Princess of Wales Conservatory (title link). Works of art, such as fiddler crabs, have been mixed in with huge floral displays inspired by air, earth, fire and water. 6,500 tropical plants were brought in for the displays, including 2,700 orchids. CLICK to watch a dazzling slide show by Paul Kerley. The bad news is that long gone are the days when I used to gain entry to Kew Gardens for 1 penny. Tickets for the Extravaganza will cost adults £13.90, silver surfers £11.90. Sigh!
