Stadium UK

The BBC has released the 1-minute cartoon video it will be using for its "marketing campaign" and title sequence for the London 2012 Olympic Games (CLICK). It's called Stadium UK (2012) and has a distinctly Manga feel to it. A better title would have been Stadium Tokyo! Above is a still from the video showing divers, the nearest one with a broken ankle. Not even a ballet dancer could achieve that angle without snapping something. The sequence begins with a trawler despoiling the sea, then we see a grim slum street before the white cliffs of Dover spin underneath. What a farce! At least the animators got Tom Daley's feet right as he positions himself on the edge of a mile-high diving board.

Seen the film it's absolute rubbish. It reminds you of the logo, you know what they were trying to achieve, sonething inspirational, but it doesn't quite deliver. Shame.

A missed opportunity. Daft idea to begin with, trying to make Britain look like an Olympic stadium.

There is another broken ankle at 00:50 - the up-side-down diver.

Fingers crossed for Tom Daley that his natural flair will outperform Chinese intensive regimentation.

I hadn't noticed the second broken ankle. I'm rooting for Tom too. Thankfully he isn't competing against those Chinese drummers. They've got to be better than our daft bucolic scene with live cows dropping dung all over the opening ceremony.
