ORNC West Wall Grant

The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, £335,000 towards the cost of conservation work in the Painted Hall, considered the finest dining hall in Europe and one of the UK’s most important baroque masterpieces. Shown is a detail from the West Wall by Sir James Thornhill, depicting King William holding court within a firmament of courtiers, gods and cherubs with Sir Christopher Wren's St Paul's Cathedral in the background. The Old Royal Naval College is open daily and admission is free. It's a must with with over 1.7m visitors last year (CLICK).
