Ghirlandaio Painting?

This magnificent Renaissance portrait of a young Giovanni Gaddi, probably painted circa 1505-08, has been attributed to Ridolfo Ghirlandaio, but some art historians dispute this attribution. What is certain is that it is the work of a master and the rich Gaddi banking family would have employed the best available artist to paint their cherished son. It is Lot 18 in Sotheby’s London evening sale of Old Master Paintings and Drawings on 5 December, with an estimated value of £600,000 to £800,000 (CLICK). There are many more excellent paintings in this sale, exhibited at Sotheby's until the auction takes place.
