Yesterday Sotheby’s London auction The Art of Illustration: From the Collection of Michael Winner, accumulated over more than 30 years by film director Michael Winner, fetched £1.1m. Top of the sale was this drawing by E.H. Shepard: Here is Edward Bear, coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It realised £139,250 and set a new record for E.H. Shepard. Beatrix Potter's Gentleman Rabbit With Letter fetched £70,850 (CLICK).
