Freud donates Corot

The late Lucian Freud bequeathed to the nation 3 Degas sculptures and this portrait in place of inheritance tax, under Government's acceptance in lieu scheme. The painting, L' Italienne ou La Femme á la Manche Jaune (Italian Woman with Yellow Sleeve) by Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, was once owned by Hollywood movie star Edward G. Robinson and hasn't been seen in public for more than 60 years. The National Gallery gets the painting while The Courtauld Gallery gets the 3 Degas sculptures (CLICK).
