Wicked Bodies

I previewed The British Museum's BP exhibition Ming: 50 years that changed China back in July (CLICK). It opens on 18 September with the astronomical admission price of £16.50 (CLICK). If you're prepared to lash out, take my advice and don't book tickets for earlier than 25 September, because then a far more interesting, unheralded and free exhibition opens in Room 90: Witches and Wicked Bodies. This display examines the portrayal of witches and witchcraft in art from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, with drawings and prints from leading artists such as Dürer, Goya, Delacroix, Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Shown is an engraving by Agostino Veneziano: The Witches’ Rout (The Carcass) from about 1520 (CLICK).
